A brown bear family sighted in Hundrap, Ghizer

Gilgit, June 21: The Snow Leopard Foundation, Pakistan, has said that a family of Brown Bear has been sighted in Hundrap area of Phandar, located in Ghizer District of Gilgit - Baltistan. According to a press statement members of an occupancy survey team sighted the Brown Bear family from an approximate distance of almost 100m.
The site occupancy survey in Pahndar was a two week activity to document occurrence of large carnivores, the press statement states, in which an area comprising of 51 grid cells (5 x 5 km each) were searched by six experienced researchers. The main localities surveyed included Langer, Barsit, Teru, Hundrab, Serbal and Chashi. The presence of brown bear, wolf, fox and ibex was confirmed in different parts of the area through their signs. Sighting of brown bear in Hundrab strengthened the evidences.

LAHORE - Hundreds of big and small precious animals have perished and disappeared from the flood-hit districts of Punjab. Wildlife and Parks Department of Punjab will prepare reports. All the district officers and teams to be constituted by the Department will prepare the reports against the loss of wildlife owing to floods in jungles and open areas of the province, The Nation has learnt.

KARACHI: The whale shark that had died after becoming entangled in a net cast off the Hawkesbay beach was chopped on Tuesday morning and taken away for use in poultry feed as Sindh Wildlife Department staff failed to move decisively to take its possession.

KARACHI: A whale shark died after it became entangled in a net cast off the Hawkesbay beach and the 300-kilo fish was dragged on to the shore by local fishermen on Monday morning.

KARACHI: The sea was wild, the sky still dark and the fishermen on their small boat were too scared to free the 16-feet-long whale shark caught in their nets 15 kilometres from the shore.
